Argentina’s most iconic chair, 100% handcrafted in Buenos Aires by Argentine artisans.
Designed in Buenos Aires in 1938 by Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, the BKF — internationally known as the Butterfly Chair — became one of Argentina’s most celebrated contributions to modern design.
The chair is represented in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. In 1940, Edgar Kaufmann Jr. acquired two early BKF chairs in Argentina: one for MoMA and another for Fallingwater, the legendary house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Kaufmann family.
THE POLO MALBEC
Our Polo Malbec brings together two unmistakably Argentine icons: the BKF Chair and the deep, rich tones of Malbec wine.
Each chair is handcrafted using premium 100% vegetable-tanned Argentine leather, the same type of thick, durable leather traditionally used to make polo boots and saddles.
Compared with our Polo London, the Polo Malbec has a deeper, warmer and more reddish tone, inspired by the color and character of Argentina’s signature Malbec wine.
Rich and distinctive, it gives the classic BKF silhouette a particularly Argentine personality.
100% VEGETABLE-TANNED ARGENTINE LEATHER
We believe the natural character of genuine leather should be celebrated rather than hidden.
The surface of our leather is left natural, allowing its original grain and character to remain visible. Natural range marks, scars, wrinkles and subtle variations in tone are signs of authenticity, making every Polo Malbec unique.
Argentine cattle spend much of their lives roaming the open grasslands of the Pampas, and these natural characteristics become part of the story of each hide.
No two Polo Malbec chairs are exactly alike.
MADE TO LAST
We use exceptionally thick leather, measuring at least 3.2 mm, reinforced around the perimeter with our signature double-leather border, creating edges up to approximately 6.4 mm thick.
The result is a strong and durable cover that gradually softens and develops an increasingly beautiful patina with time and use.

HANDCRAFTED IN BUENOS AIRES
Every Big BKF is individually handcrafted by skilled Argentine artisans in our workshop in Buenos Aires.
From selecting each hide to cutting, stitching and finishing the leather, every chair combines traditional Argentine leather craftsmanship with one of the country's most internationally recognized designs.
