An authentic argentinian colonial pattern handmade leather rug in your home.
Cowhide color: Light and dark brown + Beige + Fluorescent orange + Black
Backside: Black or grey backing and really soft polypropylene fabric that looks like suede leather. We double stitch all along the backing edge and also use strong plastic triangles that keeps the edges straight and all the rug flat on the floor.
Stitching: zig zag stitching with a thick durable thread.
From: Our small WorkShop located just outside of Buenos Aires.
Material: Cow leather from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Note that each one is hand-sewn from carefully selected hides, so no two rugs are exactly alike. The hide is totally unique and will be individual in both look size and feel. They will in fact reflect the natural pigmentation of the animal from which they came.
Care: It should be exercised when cleaning. Include your cowhide rug in your normal cleaning routine, simply vacuum or give rugs and cushions a shake outside to remove dust and small dry particles of dirt. Rotate your rug or move to a different location from time to time so that it wears evenly.
Why our argentinian cowhide leather? It's one of nature's miracles. Leather is one of the oldest known materials and most likely the first natural material that was chemically modified by man. Leather is a natural product and is made by preserving animal hides and skins by means of tanning
Big BKF Buenos Aires tannin causes a permanent preservation of the animal hide by cross-linking the hide proteins. This process converts the hide into leather and makes it resilient to putrefaction even when heated in humid conditions. The tanned hide, following further process stages can be given many and varied characteristics.
